MRI

“ARTOSCAN is the world’s leading dedicated-extremity MR imager. Hundreds of prominent orthopedic and radiologist groups worldwide use ARTOSCAN to provide convenient, low-cost MR scans to a wide patient population.”

How many physicians’ offices have you visited that have their own MRI machine? The answer probably is zero. The RTMC is one of the few places that offer their patients the comfort of having MRI’s done outside of a hospital. This means your time in the waiting room is greatly reduced, and you can relax in front of our television or doze off to music in the background while your MRI is being done.

MRI FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Magnectic Resonance Imaging (MRI)?
MRI is a painless, non-invasive, no radiation technique based on the magnetic fields of Hydrogen atoms in the body. It provides computer-generated images of the body’s internal tissues and organs in great detail and from many angles.

Why is MRI used?
MRI’s help your doctor diagnose many diseases and injuries involving the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and other types of tissue that can not be examined clearly through normal X-rays.

Why have your MRI done at the RTMC?
The RTMC is one of the very few places that offer their patients the comfort of having MRI’s done outside of a hospital. This means your time in the waiting room is greatly reduced, and you can relax in front of our television or doze off to music in the background while your MRI is being done. No more need of running around town to get your MRI’s done.

How can I prepare for the procedure?
Wear comfortable loose clothing and avoid clothes which contain metal such as zippers or buttons. We may ask you to wear a hospital gown. You may also be asked to take your jewelry or watch off.

Are there things that will prevent me from being scanned?
You should always let your doctor know if you have had any metal implants or surgical pins or plates before being scanned. People with pacemakers, aneurysm clips, and neurostimulators should not be scanned. You wil be asked to provide medical history and the doctor will decide if you are approved to have an MRI scan done.

What will I feel during the procedure?
The procedure is noninvasive and painless. You may be asked to hold an uncomfortable position for some time, but that is the extent of any discomfort you will feel.

How long is the procedure?
For each part of the body the doctor asks to be imaged, it usually takes around 45 minutes to an hour.
